Clubs

Cedar Springs High School has a variety of Clubs to help students learn new skills, meet other students and participate in activities they love.

Participating in a club helps students enhance leadership, communication, critical thinking, and academic skills. Students who participate in clubs find they have a well-rounded portfolio when applying for college or future career options.

Art Club

Come join us in the art room for open studio time! We’ll have different stations set up to spark your creativity and give you inspiration. Everyone is welcome—no need to be “good” at drawing to enjoy this experience. Creating art can be refreshing and therapeutic, so just come as you are and experience the benefits!

Club meets Mondays, from 2:30 - 5 p.m. in the Art Room.

Athletic Leadership Council

The Cedar Springs High School Athletic Leadership Council (ALC) is on a mission to unite the students, staff, and community and spread the Red Hawk Pride. The ALC consists of thirty high school athletes in grades 9-12 from varying athletic teams.

The ALC unites students and staff by:

Encouraging students and staff to show their Red Hawk Pride by wearing school merchandise
Leads in creating Red Hawk Days
Work with local businesses to show their support for Cedar Spring Athletics
Set up special celebrations for sports teams during the year

Red Hawk Kids Club

ALC members help inspire the future Red Hawks at our elementary school. They work together to inspire the next generation and showcase what it takes to be a successful athlete at Cedar Springs, respect, responsibility, patience, and equality. They are an inspiration. They are Red Hawks.

Students apply at the end of the year.

Dungeons and Dragons Club

The Dungeons & Dragons (D&D) Club is an extracurricular program where our students come together to play Dungeons and Dragons, one of the most popular and famous tabletop roleplaying games.

Players use critical thinking and logical skills as they explore fantasy worlds together embarking on epic quests!

Beginners to Pros, all are welcome.

Club meets Wednesdays, at 2:25 p.m. in Room 124.

Eco Club

Join the Eco Club! Ecology is the study of how organisms interact with each other and their environment. Get involved in regular on- and off-campus nature activities, raise awareness of environmental issues, and learn how to take action. Enjoy iNaturalist photography, participate in fun fundraisers like our fall nature print project, and help launch our “5000 in 5” campaign to plant 5,000 trees in five years. Members can also choose to compete in Envirothon 2024 next summer (Upcoming Envirothon Information).

FCA (Fellowship of Christian Athletes)

FFA

This club is for anyone interested in Agriculture and Natural Resources! FFA is an integrated “youth leadership organization that strives to make a positive difference in the lives of young people by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth, and career success through agriculture education" (FFA.org) (michiganffa.com).

National Honor Society

The National Honor Society (NHS) is the nation's premier organization established to recognize outstanding high school students. More than just an honor roll, NHS serves to honor those students who have demonstrated excellence in the areas of Scholarship, Leadership, Service, and Character. These characteristics have been associated with membership in the organization since its beginning in 1921. Chapter membership not only recognizes students for their accomplishments but challenges them to develop further through active involvement in school activities and community service.

Student Council

The Student Council represents the student government of their class. The council consists of a president, vice-president, secretary, treasurer, and three representatives comprise the remainder of the council. Any student is eligible to run as an officer or representative, but must follow guidelines set by the Student Senate advisor. The Student Council positions are a one-year term.

Students apply at the end of the year.

FALL PLAY

Every year Cedar Springs Fine Arts Department produces a full length play. Auditions are open to all high school students. The play generally requires 7-9 weeks of rehearsals and three or four performances. Positions are open for cast members as well as all areas of technical work including set construction, stage crew, costumes, makeup, properties, and publicity. Tryouts are held in September with performances in November.

MUSICAL

Every year Cedar Springs Fine Arts Department produces a musical. Tryouts are open to all high school students. Students work on acting, singing and dancing skills. Students may also choose to play in the pit orchestra, or work on publicity, costume, make-up, properties set construction or stage crews. Tryouts are usually held in January with performances in March.

Fall Play: Auditions are held in Sept/Oct with performances in November.
Musical: Auditions are held early December with performances in February.
