Transcript Requests

1. Click on the ‘create account’ button in the top right
2. Select “Learners or Parents” Create Account
3. Fill out the information and click ‘sign up’
4. Wait to receive the verification code to complete the registration

1. Log into account (follow steps above if need to create one)
2. Click on the “Orders” tab top right
3. Click “Create new order”
4. Click “+ start by adding a school or organization you attended”
5. Search for “Cedar Springs High School”
6. Click “Add”
7. Answer all questions
8. Select the “I waive my right to access” check box at the bottom
9. Click “Consent and Request”
10. After back on the main screen, click on “Order”
11. Select the location you wish to send your transcripts to and select
12. Once select, follow steps to submit your request

Parchment, like many other organizations, is required to collect and/or pay many types of
taxes. As part of our ongoing process to review federal and state tax laws, we determined
that our products, such as transcripts and diplomas, are now classified as taxable
information services in certain states. We are making this change to remain compliant with
state laws and ensure the integrity of our services.

Parchment has paid many types of taxes, including sales tax. Historically, our interpretation
of tax law did not classify our products as taxable. However, a recent review by external
auditors found that these products fall under taxable categories in some states. Our
service relies on third-party guidance and calculations to ensure accuracy and adherence
to federal, state, and local tax regulations. Therefore, to maintain compliance, we are now
adjusting our process to collect sales tax where applicable.

Many are, and while we cannot speak for other companies and their tax strategies, at
Parchment, we are confident in our legal requirements and in taking the necessary steps to
ensure full compliance. Our priority is to remain compliant with state regulations while
continuing to deliver exceptional service.

Sales tax will be applied to products such as transcripts, diplomas, and other academic
records. The tax rate depends on various factors such as the type of product, delivery
method, and location, with different state and local jurisdictions applying taxes differently.
 

Sales tax is calculated based on various factors such as the type of product (e.g.,
transcript, diploma), the delivery method (electronic or physical), and the delivery location
billing or shipping address). The exact rate will depend on the specific tax laws in your state
or locality.
● Electronic Products: When an electronic product is taxable, the sales tax is
calculated based on the requestor’s billing address (usually tied to the credit card
used for the order).
● Paper Products: For paper products, sales tax is calculated based on the
destination delivery address.
● International Requests: Tax is not assessed if the billing or delivery address is
outside the USA (for electronic and paper products, respectively).

Before completing an order, requesters will see a breakdown of the total charges, including
an applicable sales tax. This ensures transparency, allowing them to understand the full
cost before finalizing their purchase.

Institutions with valid tax-exempt status can submit their exemption certificates through
our platform. Once verified, these institutions will not be charged sales tax on applicable
transactions

No, individual requesters cannot apply for tax exemption. Sales tax will be collected on all
applicable transactions made by requesters.

For subsidized requests (where no payment is collected at the time of order), sales tax is
included in the payment handled by the subsidizing party.

Requests for credentials from K-12 institutions will have sales tax applied January 5th
2026.
