Todd Simmons became principal of Cedar Springs High School in July 2022.

For the past 14 years, Mr. Simmons served as the Principal of Pewamo-Westphalia MS/HS. During his tenure, he partnered with educators, students, and parents to make Pewamo-Westphalia a perennial top 20 high school in Michigan, as rated by U.S. News and World Report. He was honored as MASSP/MASC Principal of the Year (2020) and NASSP State Principal of the Year (2020).

Todd grew up in Iron River, Michigan, graduated from West Iron County High School, and earned his degree from Central Michigan University while living his childhood dream of playing four years as a walk-on for the CMU Men's Basketball team.

He previously spent five years as an Industrial Education Teacher at both Pewamo-Westphalia and Tri County Schools and two years as an Assistant Coach for CMU Men's Basketball.

He enjoys date nights with his wife, Lindsey, and spending quality time with their three children, Ronni, Braidi, and Ty, who attend Cedar View and Cedar Trails.

Mr. Simmons is excited to pursue his personal best at CSHS while inspiring and encouraging all stakeholders to do the same. He is ready to build authentic relationships with students, staff, and the community and grow our culture at Cedar Springs Schools.

He is fired up to be a Red Hawk! Go Cedar!

Edward Johns

Eddie Johns served as the interim assistant principal at the high school in the winter of 2022 and transitioned to the position of Assistant Principal for the 22-23 school year.

Mr. Johns recently completed his 12th year teaching science and his 8th year in our school district.

He and his wife have three young boys, a young girl, and a dog. He loves outdoor activities and nature, with cycling being his biggest hobby.

Mr. Johns graduated from Grand Valley State University with a Bachelor's degree in Education, majoring in Biology and minoring in Chemistry. He earned his Master's degrees in Educational Leadership from Central Michigan University and in Education Business Administration from the American College of Education.

Matthew Moffett

Assistant Principal and Athletic Director

Matt Moffett is our Athletic Director and Assistant Principal at Cedar Springs High School. He joined our district in 2021, bringing a wealth of experience from his previous roles as a physical education teacher, coach (baseball/football), athletic director, and assistant principal.

Mr. Moffett earned his undergraduate degree in Physical Education/Health Education from Eastern Michigan University, where he played baseball and served as team captain. He continued his education at the University of Michigan-Flint, earning a Master's degree in Educational Leadership.

Mr. Moffett is married to his wife, Kim, and they have two boys, Weston and Brooks. They love spending time outdoors, and he is an avid hunter and fisherman.
