  • High School

We are excited to inform you about an incredible opportunity for you to earn the Michigan Seal of Biliteracy, a prestigious recognition that celebrates proficiency in multiple languages.

Benefits of the Seal of Biliteracy:

  • Global Competence: The Seal of Biliteracy demonstrates a student's ability to communicate effectively in more than one language, a skill highly valued in our interconnected world.
  • College and Career Opportunities: Many colleges and employers recognize and appreciate the Seal of Biliteracy, providing students with a competitive edge in the application process and in various professional fields.
  • Cultural Awareness: Achieving the Seal of Biliteracy reflects a commitment to understanding and appreciating diverse cultures, fostering a sense of global citizenship.

On Friday, February 6, 2026, interested juniors and seniors will have the chance to take the STAMP 4s Test, a comprehensive assessment designed to evaluate language proficiency. This test will take place during the school day, starting at 7:40 and generally lasting until 4th hour. This test is a crucial step towards earning the Seal of Biliteracy, an achievement that holds numerous benefits for students as they progress in their academic and professional journeys.

About the STAMP 4s Test: The STAMP 4s Test assesses language proficiency in the areas of speaking, listening, reading, and writing. It is a comprehensive evaluation that measures a student's ability to use the language effectively in various contexts. The test is designed to provide a fair and accurate representation of a student's language skills.

What will be assessed?

  • Speaking: Students will speak to a prompt, showing how detailed of a response they can create spontaneously, without writing any notes down.
  • Listening: Students will respond to audio prompts, and demonstrate their understanding of spoken language.
  • Reading: The reading section evaluates a student's comprehension and interpretation of written passages.
  • Writing: Students will be asked to express themselves in writing, showcasing their ability to communicate effectively and across various timeframes.

We strongly encourage juniors to consider taking the test to inform them of their proficiency level before their senior year. This proactive approach allows students to identify areas for improvement and better prepare for their senior year, ensuring a smoother process in earning the Seal of Biliteracy.
