Senior John Todd has been named January Student Athlete of the Month for Football. He is the son of John and Pam Todd. John also plays basketball and runs track and is a member of the Athletic Leadership Council. He was awarded Team Captain, All-Conference, Advance 1st Team All-Area North and All-State Div. 3 this year for football. He also does well in the classroom with a 3.5 GPA.
Coach Kapolka and Athletic Director comments: “John is a three-year varsity starter at fullback and defensive cornerback . He's explosive as a runner, he can run well in tight spaces and has breakaway speed. His leadership skills and work ethic are his greatest strengths. He's an all around really good football player.”
Avery Sparling, Freshman, Girls' Basketball
Freshman Avery Sparling has been named the January Student Athlete of the Month for Girls
Basketball. Avery is the daughter of Bret and Tracie Sparling. She is a starter on the varsity
team and is averaging 8 points and 4.5 rebounds per game. She also does great in the class-
room with a 3.8 GPA and is a member of the Athletic Leadership Council.
Coach Miller comments: “ Avery has adjusted extremely well to varsity basketball as a freshman. She has shown great poise and has handled the pressures of handling the ball at this level. She is a
scrappy defender, and does a nice job getting to the basket and knocking down jumpers from
the outside. We will look for her to continue to grow throughout her 4 years as a Red Hawk.”
Logan Hull, Junior, Wrestling
Junior Logan Hull has been named January Student Athlete of the Month for Wrestling.
He is the son of Brian and Denise Hull. Logan excels in the classroom with a 3.7 GPA.
Coach Emery comments: “Logan has over 20 wins this season and is well on his way to the
100 Victory Club. Logan is a soft spoken leader who uses his intelligence for mat awareness to guide him through tough matches.”
